PRESS RELEASE: IMMEDIATE Enjoy the beauty of the holiday season amid the glittering lights of the 23rd Annual Christmas Parade of Lights “Out Wickenburg Way”! More than 30 floats will fill the streets of downtown Wickenburg on December 14th starting at 6:30pm. Starting on East Yavapai and continuing down Historic Frontier Street the parade route will then turn onto Apache Street from Frontier Street and disband at the Wickenburg Community Center parking lot at 160 N. Valentine street. Some of the highlights include: Miss Kitty the 1937 Chevrolet Van Pelt fire engine will return this year adorned with lights and holiday spirit, Classy Classic Cars, Madam Mirah & Rasin’ Cane from Arizona Legends Ghost Tours, Smokey the Bear and his Weaver Mountain BLM crew as they show us how to spread holiday cheer. Of course two very special guests will also be joining us again this year, for all good little boys & girls. Awards will be presented at the WCO Garcia Little Red Schoolhouse gazebo where Santa will hear children’s wishes. Cocoa, hot cider and cookies will be handed out. The location is north of Tegner and Yavapai street in the Bashas’ Frontier Center. It is not too late to get your entry in! Parade Route and Information: The parade will start at 6:30 p.m. on Yavapai Street in front of the Wickenburg Christian School, traveling to historic Frontier Street near the Chamber of Commerce Office and continuing down Frontier, to Apache Street turning left on Apache and ending at the Community Center. Join us at the " Little Red Schoolhouse" 245 N. Tegner Street Awards ribbons will be given to the winners in each category, and the "Best Over-All" Entry will receive the "Tinsel Award" A panel of civic leaders will judge the parade entries. Announcers will be stationed at Wickenburg Christian School, Wickenburg Unified School District, Desert Caballeros Western Museum, in front of the historic Santa Fe Depot-Wickenburg Chamber Office and Remuda Ranch on Frontier Street. This event celebrates the town’s origins as a ranching & gold mining center in the days before there was a Phoenix. The heritage event was founded 71 years ago, and today Gold Rush Days draws tens of thousands of visitors, during the 3 ½ days of activities. Gold Rush Days most significant recognition is from the Library of Congress, whereas Gold Rush Days is one of America’s Living Legacies. The Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce is the proud producer of the celebration each year, along with partners and sponsors. Carnival: Brown’s Amusements Family Fun Carnival opens at 4:00 p.m., in the downtown district on February 8ththru February 12th at 6pm. A LIMITED number of discount tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce, 216 N. Frontier Street, for Carnival Patrons. Tickets are also sold at the carnival. The National Senior Pro Rodeo and Open Rough Stock, Admission: $15 adults, $12 seniors, $5 students (13-17), children (5-12) $3 & under 5 are Free. Gates open at Noon. Tickets available at the Chamber office, at the gate or online (when available) The National Senior Pro Rodeo Association selected the 2013 Gold Rush Days Rodeo as their “Rodeo of the Year”. Gold Rush Parade: The parade theme is "TBA" is on Saturday the 10th at 10:00 a.m., and one of the largest in Arizona with over 100 entries including 1,000 horses within the entry classes, Classic Automobiles, floats, marching bands, and youth groups will also be participating. Named #3 Parade by Arizona Edventures' Top Ten Parades to attend in Arizona!! Old Fashion Melodrama: The Desert Stagers present an Old Fashioned Melodrama -February 8th-10th with evening performances beginning at 7 p.m. in the historic Saguaro Theater. Tickets available at Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce office. Opening Ceremonies: The official opening gets underway on Friday, February 8th during the Opening Ceremonies on Frontier Street at 10:00 a.m. with a gunslinger-stuntman Joey Dillon, and gold rush officials kicking off the event.
