 Preserve Announces Winter Hours

 WICKENBURG, AZ…August 25, 2011…The Nature Conservancy ‘s Hassayampa River Preserve near Wickenburg will resume its winter schedule beginning Wednesday, September 14. Open hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

 “We’re excited about the upcoming season and the programs that we have scheduled, including our AZ Centennial Heritage Days on November 5 and 6.” said preserve manager Marty Lawrence. “Volunteers make preserve activities possible and we always have a need for more volunteer visitor center hosts and trail stewards.”

Admission fees are $5 per person, $3 for Conservancy members. Admission is free for kids 12 and under, Friends of the Hassayampa and volunteers.

The 730-acre Hassayampa River Preserve, located on Highway 60 three miles southeast of Wickenburg at milepost 114, was created in 1987 to protect a rare desert cottonwood/willow streamside habitat that attracts more than 280 species of birds annually and supports diverse plant and animal communities.
